The CIWM Programme
The CIWM® programme is divided into two parts, typically spread over two semesters. At the end of each part, examinations are held.
The first part (Foundation Level) discusses all the fundamentals of finance and consists of the following modules:
- Financial Accounting and Financial Statement Analysis
- Corporate Finance
- Equity Valuation and Analysis
- Economics
- Fixed Income Valuation and Analysis
- Derivative Valuation and Analysis
- Portfolio Management
The second part (Final Level) includes the modules specific to Wealth Managers:
- Wealth Management
- Real Estate
- Behavioural Finance
- Relationship Management
- Wealth Planning

Note that the course assumes a certain proficiency in mathematics. Potential candidates may want to have a look at the mathematical self-test and its solution.
Course Materials
The CIWM® course is usually offered though local training providers that also organise lectures.
Independent of the training provider, all students – once admitted - will be given access to a range of material and tools via “SPOT – The CIWM® Study Platform Online Tool”. Among others, following materials and / or tools are provided:
- The course manuals: Centrally developed, the manuals present the relevant theory and its practical applications and provide a detailed bibliography for further reference. Excerpts
- The Finance Questionnaire Application (FQA) Tool: This collection of old examinations (multiple choice and open questions) allows for testing your knowledge on each subject. Sample questions
- The Wealth Management Software, a portfolio management simulator, allows you to develop an intuition for the new concepts and to practice new skills in life-like situations. View Demo
- The LawInContext - Private Banking Helpdesk contains legal and fiscal information relevant to wealth planning on 38+ countries. Case studies with solutions will teach you how to find your way around and extract the relevant information.
