Examinations
Both, Foundation and Final Level, are completed by passing the corresponding examination.
The Foundation Examination is composed of 3 papers:
- Paper 1 (length 190 minutes): Financial Accounting and Financial Statement Analysis, Corporate Finance, Equity Valuation and Analysis
- Paper 2 (length 160 minutes): Economics, Fixed Income Valuation and Analysis
- Paper 3 (length 190 minutes): Derivative Valuation and Analysis, Portfolio Management
The Foundation Examinations will contain multiple choice, calculation, mini- case study questions which assess the knowledge and analytical skills of candidates on the fundamentals of finance.
The Final Examination is composed of 4 papers:
- Paper 1 (length 180 minutes): Wealth Management
- Paper 2 (length 180 minutes): Real Estate, Behavioural Finance, Relationship Management
- Paper 3 (length 90 minutes): Wealth Planning
- Paper 4 (length min. 90 minutes): National / Regional Examination
The Final Examination will similarly contain multiple choice, calculation, practical case study questions which assess the knowledge and analytical skills of candidates on the specific topics related to Wealth Management.
The advised time of studying for the exams (in addition to attending the lectures) amounts to appr. 500 hours. Some samples of past examination questions may be found here.
The examinations are offered twice a year, in March and September.
Admission Requirements
The examinations are open to anyone working in the domain of financial analysis, portfolio management, private banking, wealth management, financial planning investment advice and investment in general, provided that the admission conditions are fulfilled.
The AIWM may decide candidacy requirements according to local conditions, which may include the candidate having a local professional or other membership status in good standing, a university degree or equivalent in professional work experience.
